How do people afford living in Toronto?!

Honestly, I'm so confused about how anyone survives in Toronto nowadays. What income do you need to rent an apartment here? Is it really just for rich people? I don’t understand how deposits, leases, and viewing places work. Are there any secrets to finding affordable housing? Help!
