Curious about negotiating rent in the soft 2025 market

With the rental market shifting in 2025, I've noticed many apartments sitting empty for weeks. Is it reasonable to ask if I can offer less than the asking rent? Are bidding wars a thing of the past, and can I realistically negotiate down in this soft market?
