Confused About Deposit Limits for Student Housing Near Toronto?

Hi everyone! I'm trying to find an affordable apartment near my university, but I’m confused about how much deposit landlords can legally ask for. Some are requesting way more than what I’ve heard is typical. Anyone know the rules on this? Also, how do you guys find roommates that suit your vibe?
