My landlord walked in without notice - is that legal?

I’m in shock! My landlord just entered my apartment without giving 24 hours notice. I know the rules say they need to inform me, but they just walked in on me! Can someone clarify my privacy rights regarding notice requirements? Isn’t this illegal entry? I'm so stressed with my lease ending soon!
