Why Do I Have to Pay a 'Convenience Fee' Each Month?

I'm puzzled by this lease clause that says I have to pay a 'convenience fee' every month just because I pay my rent online. Isn't it standard to just pay electronically without an extra charge? Is this legal, or just another way for the landlord to squeeze extra money from tenants?
