Subletting Rights Confusion for Toronto Tenant

I'm really unclear about what my landlord can actually say no to when it comes to subletting my studio. I thought I could sublet legally, but they mentioned some restrictions. Can they block me from doing this or is there a process I should follow? Does anyone have clarity on this?
