Can I offer below asking rent in Toronto's soft market?

With the shift to a softer rental market in 2025, I'm wondering if it's reasonable to negotiate lower rents. I've noticed apartments sitting empty for weeks and bidding wars have practically disappeared. Is it worthwhile to ask landlords for a lower price when considering housing for my family?
