Is Etobicoke worth the distance?

I’ve been eyeing places in Etobicoke, but I wonder if it’s a hassle commuting downtown. The GO Train looks decent, but I’d hate to be stuck in traffic on the Gardiner. Anyone made this leap and can share their experience?
