How's the vibe in Cabbagetown these days?

I've been thinking about Cabbagetown since my kids moved out. I've heard the rent prices are a bit high, but the charm of the Victorian houses and the parks around there really caught my eye. Is it as vibrant as people say, or has it lost some of its character with all the new developments?
