Need advice on November rentals in Riverside, is it a good time?

I'm looking to rent a one-bedroom in Riverside, but I've heard mixed things about the current vacancy rates. Are landlords still holding firm on prices, or is there room for negotiation? Is $2200 reasonable for a decent place around here? First time renting in Toronto, any tips?
