Is commuter life really worth it for a condo?

I'm torn! Renting a condo close to the subway sounds awesome, but are the extra costs really justified? I found one just a 5-minute walk from the Bloor line, but the rent is steep. My current apartment’s 25-minute commute is manageable, yet the local eateries can't compare. What do you think?
