Considering rentals in Leslieville – any tips?

I’ve been checking out Leslieville lately and it feels like a cozy little community with all the cafes and shops. Rentals seem reasonable for the amenities, but I’m curious about the vibe. Is the area still safe for someone fresh out of school? Anyone have experience living here?
