How is anyone affording rent in Toronto anymore?

I just saw a 1BR apartment listed for $2400, and rent around my neighborhood has gone from $1800 to $2600. It's heartbreaking to see even areas like Jane & Finch hitting $2200. With the average salary struggling to keep up, this city is becoming unlivable for so many of us.
