Curious about negotiating rent in 2025's soft market

With apartments sitting empty for weeks and no more bidding wars, I'm wondering if I can offer less than the asking rent. Is it feasible to negotiate down in this soft market, or is that still a risky move? Any tips on approaching landlords in this changing landscape would be appreciated!
