Need advice on family-friendly rentals in East York

We're relocating to Toronto with our kids and need guidance on where to rent in East York. I've heard good things about the schools, but what about safety and parks in the area? Is $2800 a month reasonable for a three-bedroom? Also, any specifics on neighborhood vibes would help!
