How Does Anyone Afford Living in Toronto?

I genuinely don't understand how people afford to live in Toronto these days. What kind of income do you even need? It feels like only rich people can survive here anymore. I keep hearing about huge rent prices but wonder how others manage. Is there a secret I'm missing?
