What Happened to Toronto's Affordability?

I remember when Toronto used to be affordable, maybe 10 years ago? Rents were lower, and getting approved for an apartment seemed a lot easier. Now, with the rapid price increases, I can't help but wonder what happened to our city. It feels like a distant memory of simpler times.
