This rental market is driving me crazy!

Another rent increase, seriously? Just saw a bachelor for $2800! How is anyone supposed to afford this? I'm so sick of bidding wars and losing out on places I actually like. I viewed 15 places and they were all gone within hours. This market is impossible!
