Average 1BR rent hit $2400 - this is unsustainable

I've been trying to find a 1BR in Toronto, but the prices are just outrageous. The average rent is now $2400, and I can't believe even neighborhoods like Jane & Finch are pricing out at $2200. Where is this going? How can anyone afford to live here?
