Rents are sky-high and conditions are trash! How is this okay?!

Another rent increase, seriously?! My landlord just slapped on a $400 hike for absolutely nothing! Like, $2800 for a bachelor?! What are they smoking? I'm so sick of this rental market where I view 15 places and they’re all gone in hours. It’s beyond frustrating!
