Why is Toronto Housing So Expensive?!

I just graduated and am shocked by how pricey apartments are in Toronto! I was comparing it to other cities and NYC is cheaper! Even looking at Vancouver vs Toronto, the prices make no sense. Why is our housing market so out of control? Anyone else feel this way?
