How safe is the Beaches area for families with children?

I'm considering moving to the Beaches in Toronto and am particularly concerned about safety for my children. I want to know more about crime rates, community programs, and overall neighborhood safety. Additionally, are there any nearby parks and amenities suitable for kids?
