landlord illegally entered my apartment without notice!

My landlord walked in on me without giving the required 24-hour notice! I feel violated and furious about this invasion of my privacy rights. What are the rules about emergency entry? Can I take action against this illegal entry? I need urgent guidance on my rights as a tenant.
