How critical is subway access for a 2-bedroom rental?

I’m searching for a 2-bedroom for me and a roommate, but I really don’t want to sacrifice accessible transit. How far from the subway is too far? It feels like I’d be giving up a lot if I’m commuting extra time every day just to save on rent.
