Is living close to the subway worth the extra rent?

I found a great one-bedroom in a new building, but it's $300 more than what I’m paying now. It's just a 5-minute walk to the subway, and I can’t help but think that this will save me so much time on my commute. Anyone else make this leap? What do you think?
