Rent Hikes and Bidding Wars: Can This Get Any Worse?

Another rent increase, seriously? Just saw a landlord asking $2800 for a bachelor! How is anyone supposed to afford this? I’ve been outbid on THREE places in one week. This market is impossible, and I’m feeling completely defeated. Why is it so hard to find a decent place?!
