Need advice on Kensington Market rentals for first apartment

Hey everyone! I just graduated and I'm starting my first job in January. I'm looking at places in Kensington Market, but I'm seeing prices around $1800 for one bedrooms. Is that reasonable? Also, any tips for negotiating a lease as a first-time renter? Thanks!
