Mid-term rental frustration - Alternatives to pricey Airbnb

I'm on the hunt for a furnished rental in Toronto for 1-3 months, but the Airbnb prices are driving me nuts! It's outrageous how they jack up costs for longer stays. Any advice on finding better deals, especially for temporary work contracts or other affordable options would be greatly appreciated.
