Need transit-friendly tips for a rental in the East End!

I'm looking to rent in Toronto's East End, preferably near the Bloor-Danforth line for easy access to work. I’ve seen a few 1-bedroom places around Leslieville for about $2300. Is this reasonable? Also, how's the public transit frequency like during winter? Any suggestions are welcome!
