Curious about renting in The Beaches?

I've been exploring The Beaches and I’m really drawn to its vibe! The proximity to the lake is such a bonus, but I hear rental prices can get pretty steep. Is there a lot of competition for places here? Also, how’s the safety and community feel? Any tips for first-time renters?
