Is spending 60% of my income on rent the new normal in Toronto?

Lately, I've been worried because I’m spending around 60% of my income just on rent. It feels like my paycheck is being eaten alive by this cost! Is this normal for Toronto residents? How do others cope with such high rent? I'm starting to wonder if this is sustainable in the long run.
