Downtown vs. Uptown: Where's the better vibe for students?

I'm curious about the differences between Downtown and Uptown Toronto for student living. Downtown seems vibrant with plenty of cafes and activities, while Uptown appears quieter and more residential. Which area offers better access to transit and amenities for students?
