Is it normal to require a triplicate of my lease? Asking for a friend.

I'm being asked for three copies of my lease just to move in—anyone else encountered this? Also, what's the best time during the month to move, to avoid the rush? Looking for any tips on truck rentals too, if you have suggestions!
