Need suggestions for family-friendly rentals in the east end

We're moving to Toronto with our two kids and really want a safe neighborhood with good schools. I've heard mixed things about schools in the Beaches. Is $2800 reasonable for a 3-bedroom in that area? Any thoughts on safety and family activities nearby would also be a huge help!
