Need help finding a rental before my lease ends in January!

My lease is up in January, and I'm freaking out about finding a new place in Toronto. I'm ideally looking in the Annex or Kensington Market, but I've seen prices going up to $2800 for a one-bedroom! Is that reasonable? Any tips or leads would really help because I'm running out of time!
