Confused About Assignment and Subletting Options!

I'm trying to figure out if I should do an assignment or a sublet to leave my Toronto rental early. What's the real difference between these two? Which one is better for getting out of my lease entirely? Also, do I need my landlord's approval for both options? Any insights would be helpful!
