Struggling with landlord references for my rental application

I'm in a real crunch with my lease ending soon and I've run into issues with getting satisfactory landlord references. Some past landlords have given me bad references, and it’s making me anxious about being approved for my next place. I'm worried – what if this ruins my chances?
