This Rental Market is Insane - Why is Renting So Hard?

Another rent increase, seriously?! I just found out a landlord wants $2800 for a bachelor! How is anyone supposed to afford this? I viewed 15 places last week, and they were all taken within hours. Just got outbid again. This market is impossible to navigate!
