Stressed Out: Losing Apartments to Higher Bids in Toronto!

Why is this rental market such a nightmare? I keep losing out on great apartments to higher bids, and I'm sick of playing this ridiculous game! How do landlords expect us to decide how much to bid when it feels like we're just throwing money into a black hole? Anyone else feeling this pain?
