Curious about Toronto's affordable housing waitlist experiences

I’m trying to navigate the affordable housing program in Toronto with my pet. Does anyone know how to apply for the waitlist? I’ve heard the wait can be years! Is it worth it? Any insights on areas that are more accepting of pets would be incredibly helpful.
