Considering Hamilton or Oshawa for Affordability and Commute

I’m contemplating a move to Hamilton or Oshawa to escape Toronto prices. What are the trade-offs regarding rent vs. commuting time? Is the GO train commute manageable? Would love to hear experiences of living in the suburbs. Are the savings worth the travel?
