Can anyone afford $2400 rent in Toronto now?

I've been searching for an apartment for three months, and it's a nightmare! The average 1BR rent has soared to $2400, and I'm constantly losing out to cash bidding wars. How is anyone managing to afford this? It's disheartening to see areas like Jane & Finch hitting $2200 now.
