Is it just me or is the rental market a nightmare right now?

Rental prices in Toronto seem to be rising every month, and it feels like landlords are just getting greedier. I live in a building where the heating barely works in winter, and my landlord just shrugs it off. It’s frustrating to see this lack of accountability while rents keep climbing.
