Are These Deposit Demands Actually Legal?

My landlord wants to charge a pet deposit and a key deposit on top of my rent. I'm skeptical—aren't these types of fees legally prohibited in Ontario? How can they justify additional demands when I thought deposits were limited? I need clarity on what's permissible.
