How far from the subway is too far for short-term stays?

I’m considering short-term rentals in Toronto for about 3-6 months and trying to gauge commute options. I’ve always lived near subway lines, but some listings are a bit of a hike. How far is too far from a subway station before it becomes an inconvenience?
