How are we expected to afford $2600 for a 1BR in Toronto?

Just got my lease renewal, and my rent jumped from $1800 to $2600. How is anyone managing this in a city where the average salary is barely covering basics? It's the affordability crisis we're facing all over again. Where do you even begin to find something under $2000 now?
