What's the deal with Rosedale these days?

I've been hearing Rosedale is one of those iconic spots with sky-high rents. The charm and those historic homes are lovely, but do you really get anything new besides the fancy cafes and boutiques? Anyone find it worth the pricey rent or is it just for the status? Looking for the scoop!
