I'm looking to rent a 1-bedroom in Leslieville, but my landlord is asking for first and last month's rent plus a $500 deposit, which feels excessive. I've heard the max deposit in Ontario should be equal to the first month's rent only. Can anyone clarify the legal limits or share their experiences?
