How do people afford to live in Toronto? I'm baffled!

I just moved to Toronto and I'm seriously confused. With rents skyrocketing, what income is even needed to afford a decent place here? It feels like only rich people can survive. How do regular folks manage? Is there some secret I’m missing? I truly don’t understand how anyone can make ends meet!
