Need advice on rental options before the holidays!

I'm moving to Toronto for a new job and need help finding a place. I'm looking at Queen West and Leslieville, but is $2500 reasonable for a one-bedroom? I also want to be close to transit and some good cafes. Any thoughts or recommendations on amenities to prioritize during this chilly season?
